Headstart International has announced a production partnership with Turner. Together they will produce an animated series based on the global Headstart brand, Best Furry Friends, with content set to release in March 2019 on Turner’s Boomerang TV channel in Australia.
The series will feature the six core Best Furry Friends characters, the Besties, and their unique BFFs. Launching with 13 episodes, each will run 11 minutes and will be produced in the highest quality 3D and CGI animation. In addition to the initial launch on Boomerang in Australia, the content will further roll out on Boomerang’s digital platforms and the Best Furry Friends YouTube channel. As part of the agreement, Turner’s Cartoon Network will have first broadcast rights in additional global markets.
“We created Best Furry Friends with a vision for animated content in mind and we couldn’t think of a better partner than a world class organization like Turner,” said Andrew Hendy, Owner, Headstart International. “We are excited for kids to become even better BFFs with their Best Furry Friends and engage with the brand through fun and high-quality animation.”
Fans can get a sneak peek of the series by viewing the pilot episode, “Zara’s Birthday Blues,” on the Best Furry Friends YouTube page (video below). The 13 new episodes will feature a comedy-based storyline that kids will love.
Best Furry Friends is a popular children’s brand sold globally. The BFF range currently includes collectibles, dolls and plush, with line extensions coming in the shape of playsets, interactive toys and more.
Robi Stanton, general manager of Turner Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Territories, added: “This partnership is all about combining great IP with great storytelling and production – two things that Turner has been leading the way in for 25 years. Kids are going to love it!”
